*** - "HACK-A-THON RULEMAKING CEREMONY - MODIFIED AFTER HALF-BAKED" - Description: The Hack-A-Thon contest will be done as before, where teams will self-form, draw some number of random words from a hat (number to be decided at the event, but most likely either 3 or 4), and then have approximately 3 hours to create an application deployed on an iOS device to be demonstrated for judging. The final time for submissions shall be determined by the judges at the event. Judging will be scored on the degree to which the application is based on the random words drawn from the hat, the innovative use of iOS technologies, and any other reasonable and relevant criteria agreed to by all judges (e.g. does the application crash, likelihood of Apple rejection, etc.). A panel of an odd-number of Judges will be selected at the event from attendees and presenters, whose decision shall be final as to the first, second and third place winners who will get prizes. That someone participated in developing or helping with an application does not necessarily preclude someone from being a judge, so long as they exhibit transparent impartiality in their judging of all application submissions. Although there are valuable prizes offered, this event is intended for the benefit, education and entertainment of participants to demonstrate their skills in developing iOS applications, and is open to any participant at no charge. Applications that would obviously or intentionally violate Apple App Store and Developer policies may likely be disqualified. All rights and responsibilities for the applications reside and remain with their creators. We're just volunteers, please have fun!

First Prize will be an 8GB iPod Touch sponsored by Xcellent Creations (team must determine how to share the prize)

Second Prize will be $100 in iTunes Gift Cards sponsored by Inspiring Apps and Double Encore (may be done as smaller individual cards for team participants)

Third Prize will be an e-book from Apress (multiple copies of e-book may be provided so multiple team members receive them)
