iPhone Development Training Day
Once again, we're contemplating offering a day of paid training on the Friday (12/18/09) before the upcoming iPhoneDevCamp Colorado. The iPhoneDevCampCO will remain a free event, but there would be a fee for training if it is offered.
The syllabus would be determined by the participating teachers, so is still TBA, but it is anticipated it would be similar to courses offered in the past (see below), most likely updated with information about new technologies in iPhone OS 3.0.

New/Special : We have added a day of paid training for iPhone developers on the Friday (2/20) before iPhone Dev Camp Colorado #3. The fee for the day of classes is extremely reasonable, and you can choose to attend the full-day or either of the morning or afternoon sessions.
Here is the current syllabus, still tentative, but hopefully this gives you an idea of what we'll be covering and gets people interested in signing up for the paid training. The entire day will be "hands-on" so please arrive prepared to start coding (i.e., you should already have the iPhone SDK and Xcode installed and running):

UPDATE: 2/20/09 - A new version of the device APIs demo bundle is available, with bug fixes. If you downloaded iPDC-Device-APIs.zip before 3:39PM today, please get another copy. Or if you prefer, find and fix the bugs yourself as homework.

Thanks for working this. I look forward to it. Any thoughts on the what the cost might be? I personally would like to learn more on the topic of core animation and openGL. More MVC and objective-c is mucho good. Hope I can ,at some point, return the favor for all this effort. Matt

I have a question! You say "please arrive prepared to start coding", does that mean we should bring a laptop? I have a Mac mini, so wouldn't be able to bring it!

Kim - You'd certainly be welcome to bring the Mac mini, I'm not sure if there will be a spare monitor, but it's possible that could be arranged, I recommend checking with Danny in advance. Thanks!!! -Joe

I assume based on this agenda that no previous experience with Objective C or Cocoa is required for the Friday training. Just want to make sure if there is something that I should be studying beforehand. I already bought my ticket, so I looking forward to it!

Steve - No, we're planning on starting with some very basic introductory material for people new to Cocoa and Obj-C, although it will definitely help if you have some previous experience doing programming, in particular some experience with object oriented development. Once we've gotten everyone familiar with the basics in the morning, we'll ratchet up the material to cover more complex and advanced topics during the afternoon. Look forward to meeting you there!

What is the parking situation down there? Should I drive or take the bus? If I drive, where do I park and how much is it? If I take the bus how far of a walk is it from where the bus drops me off? Sorry for all the questions, but I live in the burbs and rarely go into the "city".

Dave-- In the area around the venue there should be plenty of free on-street parking. I think RTD runs a bus through the area, but you'd have to check out their site to see which one.
